Online payment giant Paypal recently announced that it has signed deals with 15 major Retailers to allow customers to pay for purchases using their mobile phones.  Atlanta based Home Depot earlier this year began accepting Mobile Payments via Paypal in about 2,000 of it’s stores.  Now in addition such retailers such as Office Depot, Barnes & Noble, J.C. Penney, Abercrombie & Fitch, Toys R Us…just to name a few, will begin using the Mobile Payment system.  Definitely a plus for consumers in giving them a choice and convenience in making payments in this new Digital Age.

In addition to the major retailers, Paypal also has announced that over 300,000 Small Businesses have signed up for their Paypal Here services which allows Merchants to accept credit card payments via their Smartphones.  This service directly competes with the startup service Square which has offered a similar service at low rates.  Personally, I would like to see Paypal be able to offer  Mobile Payments to Small Businesses as well in order to give similar conveniences to consumers with Small Businesses as they have with the large retailers.  Another service called LevelUp has been making leeway with offering Mobile Payments to Small Businesses.

I will admit, I’ve been highly skeptical of Social Media Ads especially Blog Ads & Facebook Ads.  How many people actually notice or much less click on these Ads?

After receiving a $50 credit from Facebook to try out their Ad system, I decided to put it to the test.

So I created the above Ad targeting Small Business owners in the United States to start.  I had the campaign begin mid day this past Friday, with a budget of $5 a Day (very conservative daily budget) for 10 days.  Within 24 hours I had over 30 new “Likes” on my page.  At that time, that was about a 25% increase total for the Facebook Page.  Now on Day 3, here are the stats:

17,743 Impressions – Number of times the ad has been displayed on Facebook
42 Clicks – Number of actual clicks the ad has received directly.
30 Social Reach – Number of times the ad was displayed due to their friends clicking on the direct ad.
178 Social Impressions – Number of times the page was mentioned due to friends liking the Page.
85 Connections – Number of people who have liked the page either directly or indirectly to the Ad Campaign.
For this experiment, the last number  of 85 Connections is the most important (and impressive) stat.  My page is up to 227 Likes total with a small budget of $5/Day.  Next I will experiment with a 2nd ad in the campaign to see how various styles may impact clicks.

A new report suggests even further how Small Businesses should be utilizing the new Social Media Platform Pinterest for Social Media Marketing. As the report states, typically Small Business owners thinks of Facebook, Twitter, and possibly Linked In as the top sites to utilize for their Brand.

However, with the Visual impact of Pinterest and it’s growth trend in the past year, Small Businesses should not be passing it up. But at the same time, make sure not to ignore the other Social Media networks as well.

Just came across this very insightful article from eMarketer on the subject of Mobile (Smartphone) usage among Small & Medium Businesses.

If you’re marketing to Small Businesses, this is definitely something you need to keep in mind.  Especially take make sure that your content is geared towards mobile access.

If you live and/or work in the Marietta, Roswell, or East Cobb area, I highly recommend using Marti’s Place for your Hair Style needs!

Thank you for your support!! (and in helping Marti’s Place go Viral!!!)

QR (Quick Response) Codes…love them or hate them?

AboutMe Fun with QR Codes!

Originally designed for the Automotive Industry then adapted to other industries due to it’s fast readability and large storage design.  Some believe they are an excellent marketing tool targeting mobile users with smartphones.  And since the QR Codes can hold four different types of data (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, Kanji), marketers can develop very diverse campaigns tailored to their product or campaign.

QR Codes are popping up everywhere.  Not only on product packaging, you’ll find them on direct mailings, business cards, emails, bumper stickers…I’ve even seen them alongside the names of Journalists on the Local TV Newscasts.

As QR Codes become more popular, from a marketing standpoint, you will most likely to want them to stand out from the standard black and white block image.  There are tools out there now that allow you to insert your own logo, change the design, and colors.
